COVID-19 Vaccinations

Protect yourself and the community with the latest COVID-19 boosters, safely administered by your local pharmacist.

COVID-19 remains a significant health presence in our community. While many people experience mild symptoms, the virus can still cause severe illness, hospitalisation, and long-term health complications, particularly for older Australians and those with underlying medical conditions. Staying up-to-date with your vaccinations is the most effective way to protect yourself and reduce the spread.

At Moss Vale Community Pharmacy, our fully trained and accredited pharmacist immunisers are here to make getting your COVID-19 booster safe, quick, and convenient. We follow the latest guidelines from the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) to ensure you receive the most appropriate protection.

Who Should Get a Booster?

Vaccine eligibility and recommendations change as the virus evolves and new booster formulations become available. Generally, ATAGI recommends a regular booster dose for:

  • Older Adults: All adults aged 65 years and older, as they are at a higher risk of severe illness.
  • At-Risk Individuals: Adults aged 18 to 64 years with medical comorbidities that increase their risk of severe COVID-19, or those with a disability with significant or complex health needs.

If you are unsure whether you are currently due for a booster, our pharmacists can review your vaccination history and advise you based on the latest Department of Health and Aged Care guidelines.

Can I get my Flu Shot at the same time?

Yes! It is completely safe and effective to receive your COVID-19 booster and your seasonal influenza vaccination at the same appointment. Co-administration is widely recommended for convenience and ensures you are fully protected heading into the winter months. Just let us know when you book or arrive.

What to Expect During Your Visit

We strive to make your vaccination experience as comfortable and efficient as possible:

  1. Check-in: We will confirm your details, check your Medicare card, and ask a few standard health questions to ensure you are safe to receive the vaccine.
  2. The Vaccination: The injection is administered into your upper arm in our private consulting room.
  3. Record Update: We will automatically upload your vaccination record to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR), keeping your health history perfectly up to date.
  4. Observation: You will be asked to remain in the pharmacy for 15 minutes after your injection so we can monitor you for any immediate, rare allergic reactions.

Feeling Unwell?

If you currently have a fever, sore throat, cough, or other symptoms of a respiratory infection, or if you have recently tested positive for COVID-19, please delay your vaccination. ATAGI generally recommends waiting 6 months after a confirmed COVID-19 infection before getting your next dose. Call us to reschedule your appointment.

How to Prepare

To help your appointment go smoothly, please remember to:

  • Bring your physical or digital Medicare Card.
  • Wear a loose-fitting or short-sleeved shirt so the pharmacist can easily access your upper arm.
  • Have something to eat and drink before you arrive to prevent feeling lightheaded.

Need Advice on Your Vaccination Status?

Our pharmacist immunisers are always happy to discuss your eligibility and the latest guidelines.
